A lovely moorland view in oil by Benjamin Williams Leader.

Excellent original condition, very clean, framed in watergilt frame under glass.
Frame size 12" x 15½".
Benjamin Williams Leader was born in Worcester in 1831. Leader was educated at the Royal Grammar School, Worcester, and initially worked at his father's office as a draughtsman while studying art at the Worcester School of Design.
In 1854, at the age of 23, he was admitted as a student to the Royal Academy Schools in London.
Leader's paintings are currently exhibited at the Victoria and Albert Museum and Tate Gallery in London, and in Worcester, Manchester, Birmingham and other regions in Britain. Many works are held by private collectors.
In 2003, "A Summer's Day" (1888) sold at auction for £168,000 at Sotheby's.
