Aesthetic Caneware Coffee Pot   English, 19th CenturyAsking Price: C$135.00

Caneware Coffee pot    c. 1880

Caneware

A Neo-Classical / Aesthetic Movement gilded pottery coffee pot in buff-coloured stoneware.

The pot is decorated with upper and lower embossed frieze bands enclosing an "egypto-japanese" motif of reeds, florals and butterfly.

Condition:
Excellent condition apart from a small chip (re-stuck) and short hairline at rim near top of handle, which are not noticeable except under close examination.

Tricolor Gilding is in pristine condition with no rubbing or losses.

Background:
The decoration is in two tones of gold and silver and appears to be executed by very fine tube-lining.

A finely potted and highly decorative piece which displays beautifully.
